Have
mid-2000 delivery CL500 -- dark turquoise with oyster and
chestnut - gorgeous. Now have just over 30K miles. Problem saga:
recall on alternator before I even picked up the car; driver's
side shoulder belt made loud rachety sound, had to disassemble
seat totally to replace roll-up mechanism; steering rack leaked;
ABC unit leaked at one wheel and was replaced; passenger door
was mounted recessed a bit and leading edge scraped rear lip of
fender -- door remounted; phantom warning that a turn signal was
burned out, finally fixed; sound on COMMAND went out --replaced;
rear window shade fell off top bar, had to be replaced; driver's
side window lost a clip and wouldn't roll all the way up; both
rear windows' motors and regulators have been replaced; window
molding around both sides replaced due to slight misalignment of
frameless windows that would chronically hit and crimp them,
only worsening the problem; trunk spring fatigued to where trunk
lid would barely stay open -- twice; CD often mysteriously
starts over when starting car back up, instead of picking up
where it left off last time car was on. Oh, and one honest to
goodness problem I couldn't complain about and which should have
been the ONLY problem in this $95K car with 30,300 miles -- a
parking light recently burned out!! |

One day after taking delivery the drivers side door trim at top
of door popped up after two clips gave way. The instrument
cluster segments did not work correctly, the passenger seat belt
not working correctly. I waited several months before taking the
car in. As expected these days, the service experience was a
joke, beginning with a total imbecile of a service advisor.
Nobody follows up, spent time tracking down the Service manager,
total waste. This will be my LAST Mercedes after a lifetime of
MB exposure. Very sad that this once great marque is trying to
live on that 3-pointed star legacy. If I wanted General Motors
quality in a car, I'd have saved myself 80k and bought a GM car.
At least my expectations would have been low.
Mercedes has lost its sights and is
now just another car company. Very sad.. |
