My Ownership Experience: Today, for the third time in less than four years, my 320E wagon was towed. Like many others, I decided to buy a Mercedes so that I could have little or no mechanical problems. I purchased a brand new ML320 and had a multiple problems (including having to have the entire transmission replaced). I decided it was due to "first year" bugs needing to be worked out. So, I decided to lease the E320 wagon from a dealership--it was a "Starmark" car. In four years, this car has been in the shop 14 times, three times towed in! What an expensive piece of junk!! I can hardly wait to turn this lemon in.

I bought my first Mercedes-Benz in 1963, a 220S sedan. We have owned a number of Mercedes-Benz cars since then. Over a 40 year span, I guess I have owned 20 Mercedes. Most were bought new. A few were used.
Our 2000 E-320 sedan has been back to the dealers for one repair after another. Certainly, not the quality one thinks of when thinking of M-B.
I'm sure the dealer charges the factory (M-B USA, Montvale, NJ) plenty of all "Warranty repairs", whether  or not they were actually performed.
The Fort Myers, Florida dealer never responds to my complaint letters, nor does the CEO of M-B USA in Montvale, NJ. For 4 years, ever since we bought this car, we have been ignored! The 4 year Warranty will soon expire and we still have no satisfaction, with a defective car.
We paid $58,470.00 cash and trade, and the Mercedes company ignores us. The biggest regret of a lifetime. Four years, we have been denied the safe travel we planned to do, and the sole reason for buying a new car. Our car has a steering defect, obviously a design flaw, and they will not admit it. There is always a lot of "double-talk" and they say: "all classes of Mercedes drive like that". All 2000 models drive like that! Mercedes-Benz did replace over 2000 cars in 2001, because of a "navigation defect", without any questions... brand new cars to 2000 owners! >>>{Fortune Magazine - Oct. 23,2003}<<<
Certainly, a steering problem could be far more serious and life-threatening than a navigation defect, but they have failed to even address this as a problem. Having owned many fine cars over my life, I know if a car has a steering problem or not. This car weaves and wobbles all over a road at interstate speeds, wet or dry, windy or not, it is much like driving on ice or having bald tires. We specified Michelin tires, which I have used exclusively for all of my cars. Tires are not the problem.
M-B never notified us of a Class-Action award, regarding synthetic oil, and issued Warranty extensions and Vouchers to all owners of 2000 cars. We were not included and heard nothing. Discrimination?
The only reason Mercedes are considered "LUXURY" is because numerous markups to the price occur by middle-man importers. Price does make a car a "Luxury priced" car. M-Bs' around the world are far less expensive than in this country (USA). Watch the news films.
Our 1983 300SD was perfect---Our 1986 560SL was a PURE LEMON. We were told that a huge "Labor Relations" fiasco, triggered sabotage on the assembly lines. That is when the Mercedes-Benz name lost its luster. My family, my friends, my neighbors will never again buy any Mercedes. My next car will be a LEXUS LS430. Ranks #1---Mercedes ranks #26.
